Abstract

This research tries to find ways to come up with means to improve the surrounding environment at infrastructure projects that fall under the (MIRT). It tries to do so by adopting an area-oriented approach. Both literature was studied and interviews were conducted. There currently is a situation that is sub-optimal for environmental inclusion regarding infrastructure projects in the MIRT. Several recommendations are done to improve this situation that act on ability and willingness. First of all, there is a need for a widened scope that does include environmental issues from the beginning to the end of a MIRT project. Secondly, involving the right actors at the right time is an important step towards effective environmental inclusion. Lastly, willingness is a limiting factor in current environmental involvement in MIRT projects.
