Abstract
In this study, energy labels are the main explanatory variable to predict residential satisfaction. The current literature on energy labels mainly focus on the price premium of dwellings. Especially after the introduction of obligatory energy labels for sales and rental dwellings, the impact of energy labels on residential satisfaction will increase, as residents will become more aware of energy labels. Therefore, a study on the relation of these two phenomena is needed. An Ordered Logistic Regression pursuant to the assumptions of the Proportional Odds Model is performed to find which relation exists between energy labels and residential satisfaction. The results of this study show that homeowners, public tenants and low incomes are more likely to be satisfied with their dwellings at higher energy label rates. Private tenants, high incomes and middle incomes are less likely to be satisfied with their dwellings at higher energy label rates.
