Abstract
After the turn of the 21st century, investors started directing their attention towards Berlin. People started to move to Berlin again, and this time not to the suburbs but to the inner city. This influx was led by young people between the ages of 18 and 30. Since 2011, the city has attracted 45,000 new inhabitants per year, most of these in the 18-30 age group. These demographic figures highlight the importance of good quality housing which reflect the requirements of this generation. Despite this, little research has been done regarding this theme. The research project is filling this knowledge gap by exploring the housing wishes of young people in Berlin. Two focus groups and a questionnaire were conducted to get an insight into the housing preferences of this age group.
